5 Easy Activities Pageant Directors Can do with Their Queens

July 18, 2019

Hello my lovely pageant directors! Yes, I know I rarely craft a post about you, but today is your special day. I have decided to create a series of blog posts that will contain information to aid my pageant directors. As a pageant professional, I have worked in many areas of pageantry so I can offer an objective perspective on the industry and provide information and insight.

I must say I admire pageant directors. Why? You do so much while maintaining your sanity! You are event planners, graphic designers, web designers, marketing directors, accountants, crafters, mothers, fathers, and the list goes on! You are the jack of all trades, and I am in awe of all that you do for the industry. You may not always get the thanks or the respect that you deserve, but you are valuable. Pageants would not exist with you.

After pageant week is over, you may be totally exhausted. I get it, and I understand. Take a break, but remember you have queens that need your guidance during their reigns. In spite of everything you have on your plate, it is important to foster the relationship with your queens. Many of you do an amazing task with this matter, but I thought I give you some suggestions to take the guesswork out of finding activities to do with your queens. Community service activities are great and important, but let’s add some fun in the mix.  Here are 5 easy activities pageant directors can do with their queens.

  • Host a Vision Board Party.

This is a very easy and inexpensive activity. All you need is some poster board, scissors, glue sticks, and old magazines. Through in some cookies and punch, and you have a vision board party.  Empower your queens to create pictorial displays of their goals and dreams. This goal setting tool will challenge your queens to think beyond the crown.

  • Take a Trip to a Theme Park.

Can somebody say Six Flags?? Okay, yes Six Flags is my favorite theme park, but that is not your only option.  Find a date and time to visit a local theme park. Not only will you have fun riding rides and eating good food, but you can also use this time to get know your queens in a fun setting.

  • Attend a Fair or Festival.

Your city may have a well known fair or festival so make it an effort to plan and attend with your queens. Festivals love to see queens attend and participate in their activities. Many fairs and festivals offer FREE admission which is an added bonus. Need a suggestion? Go to that Google search bar and type in “Fairs and Festivals in _____, and you will pull up a list along with dates and locations.

  • Host a Movie Night.

This is a classic event. All you need is a location, popcorn, drinks, and a movie selection. This can be done at your home or the home of one of the queens. You don’t always have to go to a theatre for a movie night. You can even turn it into a slumber party and have every queen come dressed in her favorite pajamas.

  • Attend Other Pageants.

It is always good to teach your queens to support other contestants and queens. Attending other pageants accomplishes that goal.  It does not take a whole lot of planning. You will just need to inform the queens of the date, time, and location of the pageant. Designate a meet up time and once you all arrive, plan to sit together so you can enjoy the event as a group.

I hope this list is helpful when it comes to activities to do with your queens. Now go and have some fun!
