Krystle Clear Pageant Review: 1st Annual Little Miss Natural Hair Beauty Pageant

March 27, 2018

If you have been following my posts for quite sometime, you know I am a proponent of the natural hair movement. I am a naturalista (4 years and counting), and I support and celebrate females who embrace their God given tresses. For the past 4 years, I have had the opportunity to attend the Natural Hair and Health Expo (NHHE) in Birmingham, Alabama. The NHHE is one of largest expos in the southeast, and it offers products and services related to natural hair care, skin care, body care, health, and wellness.

This year the NHHE hosted its 1st Annual Little Miss Natural Beauty Pageant for girls ages 2-16 who wear their hair free from chemical straightening products. The GRAND Prize was a year supply of Design Essential Natural Hair Products. Twenty-two contestants graced the stage and wowed the judges with their evening wear, personality, stage presence, and natural hairstyles. The contestants did a wonderful job, and you could tell they really enjoyed themselves. The pageant was divided into four divisions, and the following contestants walked away with titles:

Little Miss Junior Natural Beauty Peyton Coleman

Little Miss Natural Beauty Natalie Matthews

Miss Pre-Teen Natural Beauty Ava Williams

Miss Teen Natural Beauty Alyssia Nelson

So was this pageant Krystle Clear? Of course! Even though this pageant is in its first year of existence, I found it to be a simple, well-organized pageant that was fun for the girls. The prize package was great, and I see the pageant growing by leaps and bounds in the coming years. I was even more honored to be in attendance because I had the amazing opportunity to serve as the pageant coach for the contestants where I coached them how to properly walk on stage. Honestly, this was God a move because I met the pageant director just 24 hours before the event because she happened to be the stylist who did my hair  in Oxford, Alabama. Isn’t that crazy? A big thank you goes to Mrs. Candace Chatman Pope for trusting me with this task.

Also, much love goes to the Visions Alabama Team for providing an opportunity for the girls to display their natural beauty and talents. This pageant is not only good for teaching them about embracing their natural beauty, but it also instills within them the gift of self-esteem. Having a positive self-esteem is crucial in today’s society because it will enable them to accomplish things beyond their wildest dreams, and live out their God-given purpose. I am already looking forward to next year’s event!
