Last week I had the honor and privilege of once again serving as a staff member for the 2018 America’s Elite Miss Pageant. Twenty-five contestants and their families journeyed to the Crown Plaza Ravinia Perimeter in Atlanta, Georgia, to compete in a system that is known as the purpose driven crown.
Contestants vying for the crown competed in the following categories:
Interview-40%
Personal Introduction-20%
Evening Gown-30%
On Stage Question-10%
They also had the opportunity to earn other accolades by participating in optional competitions such as National Spokesmodel, National Actress, National Catalogue Model, National Runway Model, State Costume Wear, Patriotic Wear, National Photogenic Award, and National Elite Top Model. Other optional areas of competition were Academic, Volunteer Service, America’s Choice, and Miss Congeniality.
New this year were the Elite Legacy Scholarships. The Elite Legacy Scholarships were scholarships sponsored by queens and AEM staff members. The following scholarships were presented to these deserving contestants:
Kappa Omega Chi Scholarship for Community Service-Kelsey Norris
Krystle Bell Saulsberry Scholarship for Academic Excellence-Anastasia Valimaki
Sheila Ahia Whitehurst Scholarship for Leadership & Service-Katie Hayes
Georgia Summer Teen Miss Interview Award-A’Milliana McNeil
In addition to the required and optional competitions and the Elite legacy scholarships, the weekend also consisted of an Canvas for a Cure, Manifest the Crown Book Signing, P-Jamming for St. Jude, and Silent Auction for C.O.P.S.
The pageant emcees were and Mallory Hagan (Miss America 2013) and Tonya Terry (WSFA 12 Anchor Woman).
The judges consisted of individuals from the pageantry industry. They are the following:

Even though each contestant did a fabulous job, only a few contestants walked away with national crowns.

These queens were showered with gifts and prizes, and they will experience a year of fun and service.
Was this pageant Krystle Clear? Survey says: Yes! This pageant continues to be fun, organized, and professional. You may think my answer is biased because I am a staff member, but as a professional meeting planner I know a well put together event when I see one. As always, I look forward to next year’s event.
