Krystle Clear Pageant Review: 2018 Miss Alabama United States Pageants

May 17, 2018

The 2018 Miss Alabama United States Pageants took place on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Mountain Brook, Alabama. Twenty-nine contestants from 6 divisions graced the stage and exhibited beauty, class, and intelligence. The divisions consisted of the following:

  • Little Miss (Ages 8-9)
  • Pre-Teen (Ages 10-12)
  • Junior Teen (Ages 13-15)
  • Teen (Ages 16-19)
  • Miss (Ages 20-29)
  • Mrs. (Married Women Ages 21+)

This pageant is especially close to my heart because I competed in this pageant system three years ago in the Ms. division. I placed 1st runner up in my division, and I won the photogenic award. The Miss Alabama United States Pageant, a preliminary to the Miss United States Pageant, is composed of four categories of competition:

  • Interview: 25%
  • Sportswear/Swimsuit: 25%
  • Evening Gown: 25%
  • On Stage Question: 25%

This year I participated in this pageant in the capacity of a sponsor. I was given front row privilege, and I was able to see every aspect of competition without any hindrance. The contestants graced the stage in their black and white opening number attire. The opening number was choreographed by Ms. Kelli Sale who was the 2015 Ms. Alabama United States. Clink on the link below if you want to learn more about her reign.

Each contestant introduced themselves and exited off stage to prepare for the sportswear and swimsuit portions of the competition. The Little Miss and Pre-Teen contestants competed in sportswear while the other divisions competed in swimsuit. Next, the evening gown competition commenced. After the evening gown portion, each contestant had to answer an on-stage question. The questions consisted of topics related to role models, peer pressure, social media, and balancing a busy lifestyle just to name a few. Throughout the competition, the 2017 queens made appearances and provided us with insight on their crowning moments and year long reign. They each did their farewell walks, and then it was time for the crowning ceremony. The following contestants received the following titles:

Little Miss Alabama United States 2018 – Landry Patterson

Miss Pre-Teen Alabama United States 2018 – Zena Terry

Miss Junior Teen Alabama United States 2018 – Ella Price

Miss Teen Alabama United States 2018 – Ivey-Elise Ivey

Miss Alabama United States 2018 – Jordan Millette

Ms. Alabama United States 2018 – Megan Bush

Ms. Woman Alabama United States 2018 – Tonya Kornowicz

Mrs. Alabama United States 2018 – Emily Dean

The Ms. Alabama United States and Ms. Woman Alabama United States titles were appointed this year so there was no competition for those divisions.

There were three special awards that were given out to deserving contestants.

Alumni Award – Kinsley Centers

Ad Page Award- Cassidy Hemric

Miss Congeniality – Landry Patterson and Carley Pinson

Each queen will experience a year long reign of fun and service. Right now, all eight queens are preparing for the National Competition which will take place July 2-7, 2018, at the Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate. I pray they have a wonderful and successful experience.

Okay, now it is time for my favorite part. Was this pageant Krystle Clear? Yes, it was! This Miss Alabama United States Pageant system has a history on putting on professional and efficient productions. The venue was great! The stage was great! The competition was great! Now, the chandelier lighting at the venue would not let my selfie game be great, but that is not a big deal. 🙂

The Emcees Kym and Jeremy Lesley kept the crowd entertained and kept the pageant flowing. The State Executive Directors Molly King and Joeletta Barrentine did a phenomenal job of putting together this wonderful production. I know being a pageant director is not for the faint of heart, and they should be commended for their hard work.

I cannot wait until next year’s competition!
