Krystle Clear Pageant Review: Sterling Miss USA 2018 Pageant

On Sunday, April 15, 2018, I had the privilege of judging the Sterling Miss USA 2018 Pageant. The pageant was held at the Pell City Performing Arts Center in Pell City, Alabama. The pageant began at 10:00 a.m. with the contestants competing in interview. The Petite Miss and Little Miss participated in a round robin style interview, and each contestant had thirty seconds with each judge. The Pre-Teen through the Miss divisions participated in a panel style interview. The Pre-Teen and Junior Teen were given three minutes, and the Teen and Miss were given four minutes.

After the interview, the contestants had a break to prepare for the onstage portion of the competition. The onstage portion began at 2:00 p.m. Prior to the onstage competition, each contestant graced the stage in their beautiful white opening number attire. Next the contestants competed in Onstage Introductions and Formal Wear.

All of the contestants did a wonderful job, but only 6 ladies walked away with crowns. The following contestants obtained the following titles:

2018 Sterling Petite Miss USA: Jade Godwin

2018 Sterling Little Miss USA: Lexie Devers

2018 Sterling Pre-Teen Miss USA : Arica Haywood

2018 Sterling Junior Teen Miss USA:Tori Thompson

2018 Sterling Teen Miss USA: Gina Jones

2018 Sterling Miss USA: Allyssa Weyant

Contestants also had the opportunity to compete in optionals which took place on Saturday, April 14. The optionals included Top Model Photo Shoot, Talent, Fun Fashion, Casual Wear, Photogenic, Actress, and Spokesmodel. The optionals were scored by a separate panel of judges, and they were awarded during the crowning ceremony.

The pageant would not be possible without an emcee and judges. They are as follows:

Emcee: Ashley Gann, Meteorologist of CBS 42 and Mrs. Alabama International 2017

Judges: Maegan Reynolds, Director of Miss Trussville Scholarship Pageant

Krystle Saulsberry, Pageantry Consultant, Blogger, and Author

Bragg Scroggins, Director of Miss Hoover Scholarship Pageant

Now on to the verdict. Was this pageant Krystle Clear? That would be a resounding YES! I have judged this pageant for 3 years now, and I am always pleased with the outcome. It is well-organized, and the Pageant Director Didi Hentry takes care of everyone who participates in the pageant. I look forward to watching this system grow and flourish. Hopefully, I will be able to attend this pageant again in 2019.
