My Top 4 Reasons Why Internet Based Competitions Are a Growing Trend in the Pageant Industry

National Ms. Real USA 2013-2014

An Internet based competition? What is that? Well, in layman’s terms, it is an online pageant. An online pageant is an internet based competition where a contestant is judged strictly online.

I was introduced to this concept when I competed in my first online pageant, Bright Futures Pageant, (Hey Laurie!) in 2012. Since 2012, I have competed in three online pageants, and I have enjoyed all of my experiences. Below are my top 4 reasons why I believe Internet based competitions are a growing trend in the pageant industry.

4. They are innovative.

I am always open to trying the latest and greatest thing. Online pageants use technology as a way to attract contestants. Contestants may be asked to create websites, social media pages, or YouTube channels as a means to compete.

3. They tend to focus more on inner beauty and achievements of contestants.

Instead of worrying about how you will be perceived by judges in a gown on stage, you can focus all of you energy on building a pageant bio and portfolio which tend to be the measures directors use for judging requirements for online pageants. Also, it is very much important that you possess quality photos. Do not let this important component fall by the wayside just because you are competing online. First impressions are still critical.

2. They tend to reach a broader audience.

Depending on where a pageant is located, it may be hard for contestants to travel far and wide to compete. Online pageants offer the flexibility to compete from anywhere in the world as long as contestants have a solid Internet connection.

1. They are affordable.

Every girl or woman may not be able to afford all of the expenses that come with a traditional pageant. An online pageant is very affordable, and I have seen entry fees as low as $35.00.

If you want to enter into the world of pageantry, but you cannot afford a traditional pageant, I would suggest trying an online pageant.
