My Top 5 Krystle Clear Thoughts About The Miss America 2017 Pageant

September 13, 2016

copy-of-30-ways-to

I thought long and hard about sharing my thoughts because I did not want to come off negative or critical, but sometimes you just have to stand in your truth. Well, here is my truth.

Krystle Clear Thought #5:  The pageant was unexciting.

I found more pleasure in reading the social media commentary from my friends and spending time with my pageant family at the watch party than watching the actual pageant.

Krystle Clear Thought #4: The on stage questions were too political.

I am not a fan of political questions even though I know it is expected at a national pageant, but they could have omitted the questions regarding the opinions of presidential candidates.

Krystle Clear Thought #3: There should not be two contestants left standing after the winner is announced.

I guess I did not get the memo on why they started this practice. I know this has to be awkward for those contestants.

Krystle Clear Thought #2: The talent competition…….

Well, let me just say I was hoping to hear vocal skills like that of Caressa Cameron (Miss America 2010).

Krystle Clear Thought #1: The top 15 was missing a vital contestant: Miss District of Columbia.

I know you probably thinking that “Krystle, I bet you like her because she has natural hair.” Of course, I am proud of the fact that she competed in a mainstream national pageant with her natural hair, but that is by far from the main reason why I admire her. Cierra Jackson (Miss District of Columbia) is bonafide rockstar. She is a role model, author, former Communications Intern at the White House, and advocate for military children. I do not know her personally, but she radiates a comforting energy that is pleasant and needed in this industry.  Plus, she has a resume that is out of this world. To say the least, I was very disappointed and confused that she did not make the top 15. The Pageant Planet even predicted her as the 1st runner up.

Well, there you have it! I normally do not have strong opinions about a pageant, but I wanted to share my thoughts. Hopefully next year’s pageant will reignite my excitement for the Miss America Pageant system.
