Royal Spotlight: 2018 America’s Junior National Teenager Madyson Fraime

February 1, 2018

The Royal Spotlight is an interview series where I highlight queens from a variety of pageant systems. This month I had the pleasure of interviewing 2018 America’s Junior National Teenager Madyson Fraime.

Tell us about yourself.
I am 15 years old. I play volleyball, the piano, and flute. I am currently a sophomore in high school who is dual enrolled at my local community college. I’m currently working on my Associates of Science and hope to have it completed in 2019. I am a breast cancer advocate for both the American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen – Columbus. I am also a 9-year Girl Scout, a full-figured model, and I love to spend time in my community volunteering.

When did you start competing in pageants?
I started competing in 2015 after I received a letter in the mail from NAM (National American Miss) about an open call in Ohio.

Why do you compete in pageants?
I started competing because I was interested in finding out more about the industry. Through competing I have gained public speaking skills and the confidence to try anything. I have made so many strong friendships through pageantry that I wouldn’t trade for anything. I have learned how to present myself and speak up for what I believe in. Looking back three years ago, I would have never seen myself where I am now in pageantry.

How many titles have you won?
I have won 5 titles.
• 2015-Miss Columbus Pre-Teen (National American Miss – NAM)
• 2016 Miss Ohio Junior Miss (America’s Elite Miss – AEM)
• 2017 America’s Elite Miss National Ambassador (America’s Elite Miss – AEM)
• 2017 Miss Ohio Junior National Teenager (America’s National Teenager Scholarship Organization – ANTSO)
• 2018 America’s Junior National Teenager (America’s National Teenager Scholarship Organization – ANTSO)

Tell us about the America’s National Teenager Scholarship Organization.
America’s National Teenager Scholarship Organization (ANTSO) is the longest running premier pageant for teens in the United States operating for nearly 50 years. Founded in 1970, America’s National Teenager has graced the cover of magazines, television and national media as a role model of leadership, scholastic aptitude and service. Combining the elements of Scholarship, Service, Success and Style, our ANTSO State and National Programs draw on a positive approach to pageantry that implements a scoring system focusing on a “real girl.” With no swimsuit or mandatory talent competition, ANTSO focuses on YOU, as a typical teen in your daily life, highlighting what makes you special! Our scoring system reflects that with 70% of the score focused on Academics, Community Service and Leadership and Interview!

ANTSO has awarded more than $102 million scholarships since its creation in 1970. America’s National Teenager Scholarship Organization (ANTSO) continues to set high standards for excellence by awarding cash scholarships at every national competition each year.

Our mission is to promote strong scholastic ideals, solid leadership principles and high character growth to young women. ANTSO holds to the highest standards of quality and integrity and conducts all competitions in a fair and unbiased manner.

How do you prepare for competition?
I prepare for competition by creating a vision board of what I want to accomplish. I also watch previous videos of myself and critique the things I received from judges’ comments. Something else I do is six weeks prior to competition I create a schedule of things I need to do weekly in order to be ready for competition.

What are your future plans for your pageant career?
My future plans for my pageant career include having an amazing reign with my current title as the 2018 America’s Junior National Teenager. I have my things planned for my reign and can’t wait to share them. Other than that I am not sure, but I know God will guide me to my answer.

What words of advice do you live by?
The quote that I live by is “ I can do all things through Christ who strengths me.”- Philippians 4:13 (NKJV). However I also follow the advice given to me during a sermon at church, which is the 5 P’s: Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance.
