The Final Crown….Maybe

July 28, 2017

On Sunday, February 7, 2017, I was announced via Facebook as the new Ms. African-American United 2017. Founded in 2002, the African-American United Organization is an Internet-based competition that celebrates the achievements and beauty of black women in the United States. This pageant system is composed of the following areas of competition:

Service (20 points)

Social Cause (20 points)

Cultural Beauty (20 points)

Cultural Achievement (20 points)

Wellness (20 points)

Each contestant had to create an online portfolio that detailed each area of competition for the judges to review and select the winners. I am honored that I was selected as the winner of the Ms. division. My sister queen Shawn Cunningham was selected as Mrs. African-American United 2017.

For the coming year, I will be promoting my personal platform Code Yellow: An Alert on Endometriosis where I will be educating the public at large about this debilitating disease as well as empowering and encouraging women and girls who currently suffer in silence. I currently serve as a Patient Advocate for EUF-Path, a program of Patient Health Perspectives. EUF stands for Endometriosis and Uterine Fibroids. I also plan on supporting local charitable events throughout the community.

As I begin to think about this title and my future in pageantry, I wonder if this will be the final crown. First of all, I have been competing on and off for about 15 years, and I have completed all but one of my pageantry goals. Secondly, my life will undergo a major change in September. Thirdly, I have aspirations of growing my pageant coaching business (The Glamour Effect), improving KrystleBell.com, and writing more books (Manifest the Crown: A Krystle Clear Guide to Pageantry Success will be available for purchase in August 2017). My plate is already full so is there space for one more competition? Honestly, only time will tell. Stay turned to see what is next for Krystle Bell.
