Three Ways to Document Your Pageant Journey

July 16, 2018

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. PLEASE READ MY DISCLOSURE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

Competing in a pageant takes hard work and discipline. You are spending hours in the gym, meal prepping, going to coaching lessons, studying tons of interview questions, and meditating just to name a few. This journey is not for the faint of heart, the mediocre, or the unmotivated. Throughout this journey to the crown, it is important to document your journey so you can see how far you have come and have something you can reflect upon once the journey is over. In the next few paragraphs, I am going to provide three ways you can uses to document your pageant journey.

Keep a Journal.

Journaling helps to organize your thoughts and create a record of events. Journaling also allows you to shift your mindset, track your progress, track your successes, and celebrate your wins and accomplishments.

Journaling Your Pageant Journey

A journal is relatively inexpensive because you can go to your local department store and purchase one for under $10.00. I personally love journals that have cute designs and saying on the front of them. Below are two journals I found on Amazon that may speak to pageantry contestants. These can be found on Amazon.

Start a Blog.

Blogging is similar to keeping a journal, but it is Internet based. Blogging allows you to organize your thoughts in a more clear and concise manner with the use of menus and links.  Unlike journaling, blogging allows you to share your journey with other people because it has a Web presence. Blogging not only allows people to gain insight into your journey, but is also allows to provide feedback and encouragement.

In order to get most out of your blog, I don’t recommend using any of the free blog sites because they limit what you can do, and you are unable to monetize your blog if you choose to do so.  Investing in a blog costs a little more money than purchasing a journal, but blogging is still relatively inexpensive. I recommend creating a blog on the platform Bluehost. I have used Bluehost for KrystleClearPageantry.com for the past 3 years, and I am very pleased with it.

Also, think of blogging not just for documenting your pageant journey but for building a brand. As a pageant contestant, you want to stand out and create something that is rooted in your passion and purpose. If you want to build a successful and sustainable brand, you must take it seriously from the beginning and invest in yourself. You never know what doors may open because of the hard work and investment in your blog.

Start a YouTube Channel.

If you don’t like conveying your journey in a written form, then starting a YouTube Channel may be the thing for you. YouTube allows anyone to document their journey with the use of videos and/or music. These videos can be scripted or they can be vlogs. A vlog is just a short name for a video blog. Vlogs are unscripted and they show the life of the person who is creating the vlog. You can create a YouTube Channel for FREE. All you need is a Gmail account to create an account. From there you can start uploading videos. Most people start YouTube Channels by shooting videos with their cellular phones, and then they will upload their videos to their channel.

One of my favorite pageantry YouTube channels is Dani Walker. The creator Dani Walker provides information on items related to the pageantry industry, but she also documents her own pageant journey. You can check out her channel here.
